My resplendent journey in Cape Weligama

When you’ve had your fill of rolling hills of tea estates and a mighty surreal backdrop, I would highly recommend you head over to Cape Weligama – my definition of leisure, respite & recreation. Very much a part of part of Sri Lanka, this gorgeous beach resort is tucked away into the Southern Coast away from the hustle and bustle of its capital city. With its ideal location, awe-inspiring panorama and niche luxury offerings, it is one for the bucket list & I’m so so grateful for having had this opportunity!

Just thirty minutes east of Galle, perched on the cliffs of Weligama, overlooking crashing waves and untouched sands, sprawling across 12 acres of manicured land is this beautiful piece of work. Designed by one of Asia’s most celebrated architects, Lek Bunnag,  spoilt for choice & royally pampered, I made the most of the in-room massages, in the luxury of my chalet, with endless fills of their finest Dilmah teas sourced from Cape Weligama’s sister resort in Sri Lanka’s Central Highlands & their freshest fruits.

I, was drawn in to its unique location seeing as i’m a lover of cliffs overlooking the sea, Cape Weligama, sets a heavenly picture for me. At this point I had hit the pause button & had absolutely not intention of coming back. I mean, would you? Mimosa, check! Infinity pool, check! Stunning sunsets, check!

It was also very comforting to be on a half board plan which usually means a magnanimous breakfast buffet & dinner inclusive. Lunches were usually spent having a light snack at their array of international dining venues to select from, all of which captured the unbelievably gorgeous sunsets of Weligama, as did their iconic crescent-shaped infinity pool, that seamlessly flows into the Indian ocean. They’ve also got you covered with 3 fantastic international restaurants for dining options, s0 vegetarians? – do not fret!

However, if you’re not the kind that can only relax and unwind, Cape Weligama has you covered with its generous lot of adventurous and fun activities. Experience the perfect blend of a beach atmosphere and culture haven. Take to the waters for a morning of Surfing, Paddle-boarding, Snorkelling and a host of PADI Dive courses.

The hotel also arranges for private boat excursions to surrounding areas; take a sunset cruise and blow off steam from the morning’s adventures! Whale watching, bike tours, kayaking, banana boating and visits to beautiful Mirissa and inspiring Galle, are only few of the amazing things you can do while you’re at Cape Weligama!

I could gush about this indulgence endlessly, but you have got to have a taste of it yourself. All in all, an experience here is without a doubt full of spice and flavour – giving you the best of adventure and tranquillity in one mighty location!
